Repeat Prescriptions

Prescription requests can be ordered in the following ways;

Through eConsult (go to our home page and click on the eConsult link)

Order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration.

Posting your prescription through the surgery letterbox. If you would like the prescription posted back to you, please attach a stamped self-addressed envelope.

Due to the current situation, if you do not have access to the internet, we are currently accepting telephone prescriptions over the phone between the hours of 5pm and 6pm only.

When will my prescription be ready?

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

 
Please do not:

Ask for items which are not on your repeat list, especially if these can be bought at a pharmacy without prescription. Our reception staff are unable to process these, and requesting them causes delay in issuing your prescription.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

NHS prescription costs

• current prescription charge – £9.65 per item (£17.60 per pair of elastic hosiery)
• The hormone replacement therapy (HRT) PPC - £19.30 and will save you money if you need more than 2 prescribed HRT items in a year*
• three-month PPC – £31.25; this will save you money if you need more than 3 prescribed items in 3 months
• 12-month PPC – £111.60; this will save you money if you need more than 11 prescribed items in a year

PPCs are available by 10 monthly direct debit instalment payments. The certificates allow anyone to obtain all the prescriptions they need for £2 a week.
